Description
Information Transparency Orange & Baking Spices Harvest: June 2025 Country: Rwanda Producer: Rwamatamu washing station Region: Karongi, Western Province Process: Washed Variety: Bourbon Altitude: 1,600-2,000 masl Rwamatamu is a family-owned farm and washing station located in Rwanda’s Western Province. We were first introduced to the owners through the importer Omwani, and last year we had the privilege of meeting Bernice, Gaston, Leticia, and the rest of the Rwamatamu team in Rwanda. The trip was an incredible experience and it allowed us to lay the foundations for a more direct way of sourcing coffee in this country, which we're very excited about. In 2025, Rwamatamu placed second in the prestigious Best of Rwanda competition and this coffee is the first of two lots we will be roasting from this harvest. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do! This coffee has been roasted for filter and you can expect a bright and complex cup with notes of orange, raisin and baking spices. Price we paid: USD $5.38 /lb FOB: USD $4.00 /lb Farm gate: ~USD $3.60 /lb Weight purchased: 960 kg Buying history: 2 years Importer: Omwani Cup score: 87 This coffee was grown, processed and exported by Rutaganda Gaston, who is the owner of Rwamatamu. The FOB price is paid directly to him and roughly 10% of this money is spent on milling and preparing the coffee for export. The importer Omwani, organised the logistics shipping the coffee from Rwanda to our roastery.
