Description
Tastes Like: Marmalade, Floral, Red Currant, Sugar Cane Origin: Palestina, Colombia Variety: Maracaturra Producer: Monica Berdugo, El Porvenir Elevation: 1700 masl Process: Washed This Colombian microlot from Mónica Berdugo at El Porvenir is a masterclass in clarity. This is a washed Maracaturra, a hybrid of Maragogype and Caturra. We love a coffee that tells a story of both variety and terroir. Mónica Berdugo meticulously cultivates this lot at high altitudes to highlight the natural elegance of the Maracaturra variety. While the beans themselves are large, the cup profile is surprisingly delicate and balanced. The traditional washed process brings a distinct brightness to the cup, revealing a clean, orange-like acidity and a smooth sugar cane sweetness. It’s a refined, transparent coffee that represents exactly what we look for in our releases. This is our third year working with Monica, having sourced multiple lots from her over the last several years.
