Description
The Delgado family has cultivated coffee in the fertile highlands of San Juan Sacatepéquez for generations. Finca Quequezques is a fully integrated coffee farm and mill. Their setup allows the Delgados to oversee every stage of production, maintaining exceptional quality while honoring both tradition and sustainability. The name “Quequezques” comes from an indigenous word for a broad-leafed plant native to these mountain slopes. It’s a fitting symbol of the connection between the family and the land, rich volcanic soil, a temperate microclimate, and the gentle shade of native forests all contribute to growing remarkable coffee. Under a canopy of shade trees, the Delgados grow several coffee varieties, including many heirloom types, guided by an agroforestry approach designed to build soil health and provide resilience against changing climate conditions. Grown in balance with the surrounding ecosystem, the coffee not only thrives, but its quality and flavor are elevated. In the cup, expect notes of orange, stewed apple, and comforting hints of chocolate and brown sugar.
