Fruity Summer Coffee - Riakiberu, Kenya

Tasting notes: Fruity and juicy with notes of ripe cherries, dried fruit and butter notes. Best brewed as pour over, filter coffee or french press. Tastes heavenly as iced coffee. This Summer Coffee comes from the Riakiberu washing station in Muranga. Thanks to rich, volcanic soil, high altitude and dedicated farmers, the washing station delivers a coffee experience characterized by sweetness and fruitiness. Around 1,390 small-scale farmers deliver their ripe coffee berries to the Riakiberu washing station. The farmers mainly grow the varieties SL28, ruiru 11 and batian, and each farmer has an average of around 200 coffee trees. Riakiberu places great emphasis on sustainability, including through the use of soak pits for water purification and recycling, as well as training farmers in good agricultural practices, with the aim of increasing production, quality and long-term value creation for the local community.
