Description

Some coffees are selected because they represent a place. Others because they represent a producer. This coffee was selected because it represents what is currently possible at the highest level of coffee production. For years, the Lamastus family has been among the most respected names in specialty coffee, consistently demonstrating that innovation and precision can exist without compromising elegance. This ASD Washed Gesha from Finca Elida is one of those rare coffees that feels both progressive and timeless. It delivers the clarity expected from great washed Gesha while revealing a depth and complexity that few coffees can achieve.   In the cup, delicate florals of jasmine and orange blossom lead the experience. Layers of strawberry, cherry and honey peach bring sweetness and dimension, while hints of green tea and soft florals carry through a long, velvety finish. The structure remains refined and transparent throughout, allowing each flavour to reveal itself gradually as the coffee cools. Finca Elida sits high on the slopes of Volcán Barú in Boquete, Panama, where the Lamastus family has cultivated coffee for generations. Located within a protected cloud forest environment, the farm has become synonymous with some of the most celebrated coffees ever produced in Panama. Their relentless pursuit of quality has earned recognition across international competitions and auctions, helping define modern standards for excellence in coffee. Producer: Lamastus family Farm: Finca Elida Lot: Vuelta Origin : Boquete, Panama Variety : Gesha Process : ASD Washed Drying: Dark Room Dried 45-60 days This lot comes from the Vuelta section of the farm and is produced from Gesha grown at high elevation under the unique climatic conditions that have made Elida famous. The coffee undergoes the Lamastus family’s ASD (Anaerobic Slow Dry) Washed process. After harvesting, ripe cherries are pulped and fermented in sealed tanks before being carefully washed and transferred to temperature and humidity-controlled drying rooms. There, the coffee is slowly dried for 45–60 days, allowing flavour development to occur gradually and with remarkable consistency. The result is a coffee that sits comfortably between traditional washed Gesha and the next generation of processing innovation. Floral, layered and deeply expressive, yet always balanced and composed. At Standout Coffee, we spend the year tasting thousands of coffees in search of a small number that genuinely move the conversation forward. This is one of them. Available in limited quantities. Roasted for both filter and competition-style espresso. As with all Standout releases, this coffee sits between specialty and competition coffee.
